Biscuits & Bluegrass Returns
for Fifth Year of Free Fun
The Loveless Cafe is gearing up for the fifth annual Biscuits & Bluegrass fall
festival, to be held
on Saturday, October 10 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Nothing says Nashville more
than Biscuits and Bluegrass and that is once again what the Loveless
Cafe is serving up to celebrate community and tradition. This FREE event, will feature biscuit samples for everyone, the
ever-popular biscuit
eating contest, a live all-star bluegrass pickin' circle and a cash bar so be sure to bring your instrument for the impromptu pickin' parties.
There will also be many children's activities including face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo as well as arts and crafts demonstrations for adults
and kids including: weaving, pottery, wood turning, fabric dyeing, painting and jewelry making. Come join the fun!

New Weekly Music Series Takes Root at Loveless Barn
WSM 650-AM recently announced the launch of "Music City Roots: Live
From The Loveless Cafe," a weekly show airing Wednesday nights from 7 - 9 p.m. live
from the Loveless Barn. "At the Loveless Cafe, we cherish our rich history
and tradition and it only
makes sense to join forces with such a historic brand like WSM for this exciting
new endeavor," says Jesse Goldstein of the Loveless Cafe. Opening night, October 14,
2009, will feature Americana icon Emmylou Harris, the
acclaimed duo of Pam Rose and Mary Ann
Kennedy and more.
Tickets are $10 or $5 with a student ID. They are available in advance at
Grimey's New and Pre-loved Music (1604 8th Ave. S) or online at www.musiccityroots.com.

join Trace Bikes at 10
a.m. for the Trek Breast Cancer Awareness Ride. This annual 10- or
25-mile ride along the Natchez Trace Parkway is sponsored by Trek
Women. Registration for the race is $25. There will be snacks,
SAG support, raffle prizes, a $25 gift

October is Country Ham
Month!

red eye gravy and lots of biscuits, this delicious entree is available from

Recipe of the Month:
Red-Eye Gravy
Nothing goes better with a ham breakfast than red-eye gravy. In honor of country ham month enjoy a
splash of red-eye gravy with your ham and biscuit!
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (1/4 inch thick) bone-in center cut country ham slice
½ cup brewed coffee
1 cup water
2 to 3 teaspoons brown sugar
Place the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ham slice and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on both sides until ham is brown. Remove
the ham from the skillet. Add the brewed coffee, water and brown sugar to the drippings in the skillet. Bring to a boil and cool until the
sugar dissolves. Serve with country ham, biscuits, eggs any style and stone ground grits.

Month
